Ministers Message

Following the dreadful bombings in London on the 7 th July the date 7/7 has entered our vocabulary as did 9/11.
We cannot begin to imagine what must have been in the minds of the young men who carried out these terrible acts. Our thoughts and prayers are still with all those who were affected by this awful day.
One positive thing has come about.....the day following these events I was invited to meet with a representative of our local Islamic Centre, because the folk there were keen to distance themselves from all that had occurred. The outcome of our meeting was the “Community Gathering" which was held a week later. This event has been reported in the local press so I need not go into all the details again, suffice to say; that I believe that there is a greater degree of understanding now between our Islamic neighbours and ourselves as members of the Christian Church.
The intention is to set up an Inter Faith / Community Forum...a meeting place for us all to get to know each other and build bridges rather than barriers between each other.
I hope and pray that we as a Church will want to give our full support to this venture and help some good to follow the evil of 7/7
Shalom
John
