Tower Appeal - Why its happening...
You may have seen some scaffolding surrounding the Church tower at Shaw's Corner.
What's going on?.......
Are they taking down the Tower?.......
Will we be losing this well known landmark?
Importance of the tower
No.....but in fact our Church Tower is in need of repair. Currently we have the scaffolding in place so that surveyors and structural engineers can do the preparatory work and provide us with costings. We aim to return the Tower to it's former glory. However we know that the nature of the work required will run into tens of thousands of pounds. We will shortly be applying to the Church authoruities for a grant that we hope will cover much of the work, but as a congregation we will need to raise a substantial sum ourselves.
We take this responsibility very seriously, because not only is Shaw's Corner a place of worship, but it is at the heart of many community groups and projects in Redhill and Reigate. Our Church and Church halls play host to a wide variety of activities, from the music festival, to youth organisations such as Scouts, Brownies and Rainbows, to Sports, keep fit activities and health related support groups.
Can you help us?
If you would like to contribute in any way to ensuring that the work of Redhill URC cointinues, and that our whole community can enjoy the facuilities in provides, wwe would be delighted to hear from you.
How can I help?
We would be pleased to hear from anyone who has an idea for fundraising or can devote some time to the fundraising activities that the Church will be doing. of course if you would like to make a financial donation that would be most welcome. In any event if you can help in any way, please contact us at the email address below......
